Yes, I agree, this has to be one of the best places in the whole world. The weather, the vibe, the food, the people, the beauty. Oh, the beauty.
Of course, it is world famous for diving and spotting whale sharks. But I can tell you, there is more to do there than diving and enjoying the beach. (Although both are great).
For my diving experience I went to Carabao diving resort. I stayed in a dorm with about 10 other people. I had a great, really funny diving teacher, and would recommend diving at Carabao (or elsewhere) to everyone, even if you find it scary! Maybe especially if you find it scary.
Here are some other things you can do that are really, really worth your time.

Visiting Koh Nang Yuan. A tiny island, not too far from the coast of Koh Tao. If you go to the main road, nearly every man is willing to take you there. Sure, the sea is pretty rough, so I was fearing for my life basically the whole ride. But come on, that’s what adventures are made of! 🙂

At, nearly the top, there is this tiny restaurant with really cute props and beautiful view. Obviously, it is a little bit overpriced, especially the drinks, but I think this is logical, since it is the only restaurant there and it is quite difficult to reach.
Love Koh Tao, I really, really, really do!

Another great thing to do is to walk to the viewpoint of Koh Tao. Be prepared for quite a climb! For all my navigation I always used maps.me, a free application which allows you to download maps when you have wifi, and then access them when you’re offline.
I brought plenty of water, sunscreen and a hiking buddy, and started the climb around 11 in the morning. Not too smart, because we would be in the middle of climbing when the sun was at its strongest.
My hiking buddy kept asking me to take breaks, while he was a rugby player and had a great stamina. So after our fifth break, I jokingly said: you don’t have such great stamina compared to me. Which is when he revealed his true reason for all the breaks: my face had turned tomato red (I am not exaggerating) and he though I was close to passing out 😂 He was genuinely concerned about my health, I told him:

The beach right next to the Carabao resort. Pretty much a tiny, private beach. The water feels amazing, not too hot and not too cold.

The good food continues as I find a new appreciation and lust for life.
Enjoy your day!
