I arrived at Marrakech airport. I had not arranged any pick-up throughout my hostel, because stubborn as I am, I thought I was experienced in negotiating and thought I could arrange it cheaper. Of course my whiteblond hair screams “TOURIST”. End of story: I ended up paying a lot more than if I had paid my hostel’s fare. Oh well, you have to take the gamble sometimes. But YOU can learn from this 🙂 Unless you are much better than me at negotiating or just want some practice, I would advise arranging a pick-up.

Around the Djemaa El Fnaa square, there are many cute, cheap restaurants with roof terraces that have a great view over the busy square. The square is also great for shopping, just make sure to negotiate the price to at least half of what they are asking you for! Trust me!

In Marrakech, it is really hot (not the nice kind of hot) and humid so you might want to book a hostel/hotel with a swimmingpool and/or a roof terrace.

The culture in Morocco is very different from Europe’s culture, so you might find yourself feeling uncomfortable wearing shorts or tanktops. I mostly wore loose long pants and maxi dresses, and sometimes, like in the picture, a regular dress. Of course, you don’t have to do this, but it’s just a little tip. You are not going to be having fun when you are constantly very self conscious about your outfit, is what I experienced.
